'The Half' exhibition in The Lowry

Photographs of Actors
By Simon Annand

As part of the 'interpretation' brief we were advised to attend the Half exhibition at the Lowry. The idea behind this exhibition was to show actors half an hour before they went on stage, capturing there pre-show warm up, whatever that might be, the time when they transform themselves into another character. This is a glimpse of a very presonal time for the actors, that is rarely seen by the public.
Here are some notes I took when looking at the images, showing my most raw response
Beautiful photography, some, with the actors aware of the camera, and you get an idea of how the actor is feeling toward the presence of the camera in there space. But i think the best ones are with the actors seemingly oblivious to the cameras presence, and it seems like you are really getting into there personal space. the feeling i get from most of the actors are angry , completely focused miles away or silly. i suppose each actor deals with this personal time in there own way.

Snow Flakes in Window Display?

Walking round Manchester Christmas shopping the other week, I walked past a shop window that caught my eye. There were two sheets of glass that had the same pattern of squares that played a visual trick to make me think the pattern is moving, well it was interesting to me.
OK so it has snowed, and yes, I did write in the snow, I creatively called my basic typeface 'snow font'. As I was going home I also dragged my bag through the snow creating interesting curves with the wheels, possibly a starting point for something much more interesting?

I have finally decided to upload the Becks Fusions animations, Anna and I did for a YCN brief, that we were commended for.
Becks Fusions is a festival where music and art are "fused" and celebrated, so we came up with an idea that we thought reflected the theme of the festival.

Magazine Cover Image

I have been working on a magazine as a summer project and it is now coming to its final stages this is the Edited photo I have decided to use for the cover, the magazine is to do with my summer experiences through my own eyes. Inspiration for the original photo was taken from seeing Radiohead play "You And Whose Army?" at Leeds festival. It is simply a close up of my face with the Glowing Edges filter.
